Eli and I were walking in the Sahara Desert.

I asked, “Eli, why is there so much sand in this area?

Eli answered: “Riri, we are in the desert. It is a place with little water. It doesn’t rain often here. Also, the sun’s raysare stronger than anywhere else. It is dry, and there’s so much sand”.

In the distance, we saw a very big brown cloud. Then Eli said, “We need to find a place to take shelter. It looks like a sandstorm is coming.”

I didn’t know what it was. I asked, “What is a sandstorm, Eli?”. Eli explained, “Sandstorms form when high winds are seen in deserts. The wind blows large amounts of sand.

Also, it blows dust into the air. This creates a dense cloud.
This cloud covers the sky. So, you cannot see anything.

The sandstorm got closer. It was so frightening.
We started running very fast. The storm was
getting closer and closer

Finally, we found a village. We hid in one of the houses. We waited for the storm to pass.

Eli told me,
“Sandstorms are common in those areas. The villages and houses are prepared for them.”

The sand and sun were bright and clear again. Now, we could continue our way. Deserts could be dangerous. So, I understood that we should be careful and prepared.

They see another sandstorm and have to find an oasis,
can you help them?
