Sleepy Shapes

Group the objects according to their shapes and open the story gate.

It was bedtime, but I wasn’t sleepy.
I turned left and then right, still couldn’t sleep.

My eyes were wide open.
I asked Eli, “Hey Eli, are you awake?”

Eli said, “Yes, Riri, I’m reading a book.”

I asked, “Eli, will you help me fall asleep?”

Eli smiled and nodded.
She showed me her book.

It had different shapes: a flat one, a pointy one, and a round one.

They were interesting. I liked how they looked.

Eli closed her book.
She told me to close my eyes and imagine the shapes.

I imagined the flat one; it was a line.

I imagined the round one; it was a circle.

But, when I imagined the pointy one, I couldn’t remember its name.

This made me jump out of bed. I was sad.

I asked Eli, “Eli, I don’t remember its name, the pointy one!”

Eli giggled and said, “The pointy one is a triangle, Riri!

She added, “It has three corners and three sides.
Now, try to sleep again.”

She said, “This time,
imagine the triangle and count its corners and sides.”

I lay back down and imagined the pointy one again.

Now I knew its name; it was a triangle. I was happy.

I started to count its corners and sides; this made me feel sleepy.

I slowly started to lose my count, and then I was asleep.

I dreamed of triangles, circles, and lines.

Now I was ready for more shapes.
