This morning, Eli and I were walking.
We came across a huge body of water.

I pointed and said, “Look Eli, water, huge amount! Is it normal?”
Eli giggled, “Of course Riri, it’s called the ocean.”

But I didn’t know what it was.
I asked, “Eli, what is an ocean?”

Eli flew to my shoulders and said,
“Do you remember lakes or seas?”

I tried to think but couldn’t remember.
I said, “No.”

I felt sad, but Eli said, “Don’t be sad, Riri.
I’ll teach you!”

As we stood by the water, a big wave crashed.

I was afraid and stepped back.
I asked Eli, “Is it safe? The waves are scary.”

Eli told me, “It is safe if you are careful.
Water is everywhere on Earth.”

She added, “It comes in many forms.
The three main ones are lakes, seas, and oceans.
She continued to explain.

“Lakes are surrounded by land.
They can be small or large.”

“Seas are larger than lakes and partly surrounded by land.”

“Oceans are the largest bodies of water.”

“They have bigger waves. Plants and fish live inside them.”

“There are plants like seaweed and coral.
You can also see turtles and dolphins. Oceans are full of amazing life.”

I jumped up and screamed with joy.

I said, “Can we swim in the ocean, Eli?”

Eli said, “Yes, Riri, let’s go now.”

We walked until we reached the ocean.

I put my feet in the water, and it made me really happy.

I liked the ocean and the sea.

Eli said, “See, Riri, it is scary at first,
but learning new things is fun. Nature is great.”
