One day, Eli, Professor Poki, and I were at Professor Poki’s quirky farmhouse. It was a cosy place with creaky wooden floors, old furniture, and a big, old computer in the corner. The farmhouse had a big yard with chickens and a vegetable garden.

The professor had invited us over for a special project. He wanted to create a website to share all his funny inventions and farm stories with the world. Professor Poki, with his usual goofy grin, said, “We’re going to make a website today! It’ll be a place where everyone can see my inventions, like the egg-collecting robot and the tomato launcher!”

He twirled around in his chair, nearly knocking over a stack of books. Eli chirped excitedly, “That sounds amazing! But how do we start?” I was curious too. I had never made a website before. Professor Poki pulled out a big sheet of paper. “First, we need to plan our website. We need a home page, a page for the inventions, and maybe a blog for farm stories.”

He began sketching boxes on the paper. “This is called a ‘wireframe.’ It’s like a map for our website,” he explained. He handed me some markers and said, “Riri, can you help me draw the buttons and pictures?”

As we started planning, we realised we needed good pictures for the website. “But we don’t have any photos!” I exclaimed. Professor Poki scratched his head, then suddenly, he pulled out an old, dusty camera from a drawer. “Let’s take some pictures!” he said, blowing the dust off the camera.

But when he tried to take a photo, the camera made a funny noise and spat out a piece of toast! We all laughed. “Oops! Wrong gadget,” Professor Poki giggled. We found another camera, and this time it worked.

We took photos of the egg-collecting robot, the tomato launcher, and even Eli posing with a straw hat. But then we faced another problem: we didn’t know how to upload the pictures to the website. “Hmm, this is tricky,” Eli said, peering at the computer screen. “We need to figure out how to get the pictures from the camera to the computer.”

Professor Poki, always full of surprises, pulled out a tangle of wires and said, “Maybe one of these can help!” He started plugging them into the computer, but nothing seemed to work. “Can’t we just use Bluetooth?” Eli suggested. “My tablet connects to speakers that way.”

Professor Poki scratched his head. “Good idea, but I’m not sure this old camera even knows what Bluetooth is!” Just when we were getting frustrated, Eli found the right cable. We connected the camera, and finally, the photos appeared on the screen!

“Now we can add them to our website!” I cheered. We spent the next hour choosing the best photos and adding them to the website. We also wrote funny captions, like “The Amazing Egg Collector!” and “Watch Out for Flying Tomatoes!”

With the pictures and captions in place, Professor Poki showed us how to choose colours and fonts for the website. “Let’s make it bright and cheerful, like our farm!” he said. We picked a sunny yellow for the background and a fun, curly font for the text. We also added a section where people could leave comments and ask questions.

Eli, with a proud smile, said, “Our website looks great! It’s so fun and colourful.” I agreed, feeling proud of our work. But there was one last thing to do: we needed a name for the website.

After brainstorming, we decided to call it “Poki’s Wonderful Farm.” Professor Poki, with a silly hat on his head, hit the big “publish” button, and our website went live! We all cheered and high-fived. “We did it!” I exclaimed. “We made a website!”

As we looked at our creation, Professor Poki said, “This website will let everyone see our fun inventions and farm adventures. It’s like sharing a little piece of our world with others.” Eli nodded and added, “And now we know how to plan, take photos, and build something cool together.”

Let’s see what you’ve learned! Choose the correct answer for each question.

Well done! Continue to the gate.
