A tramcar passed while Eli and I waited at the crossroads.
Then, a bicycle came by, followed by cars.
I asked, “Eli, why do people use different vehicles?
Why not just walk like us?”
Eli smiled and said, “People have different reasons, Riri.
We walk for short distances.
Walking keeps us healthy. We also enjoy the fresh air.”
A bus came by, and people got on.
Eli continued, “Buses carry many people to work or school.
Planes take us far quickly.
Boats help us cross rivers and lakes.
Each one has a special job.”
Just then, we heard a loud honk. A car stopped in the road.
The driver got out, looking worried.
Eli turned to me and said, “Sometimes cars break down.
People need to fix them.”
More cars lined up behind the broken car.
I wanted to help and said, “What do we do now, Eli?
The traffic is getting worse.”
Eli had an idea. “Let’s help push the car aside.
That way, the road will be clear,” she said.
Together, we pushed the car to the side.
The traffic started moving again.
Everyone cheered and honked their horns.
Once the car was on the side, Eli said,
“We did it! The road is clear now.” I felt proud.
As we walked home, I smiled.
Walking is great for short trips.
But we need vehicles for long journeys.
